Pastoral Vacancy Announcement Full – Time Senior Pastor

The Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church (PRMBC) was organized in September 1935 and moved to its current location in 1985. Located in the mid-town of Dallas, Texas with a population over three million, PRMBC has experienced significant growth in membership. Countless ministries have been added, and we continue to enhance the Kingdom of God. Through this church family, more than 4,500 souls have been added to the Kingdom of God. Now seeking its fourth pastor in 85 years, PRMBC with its rich tradition, will continue to press toward the mark of the higher calling, which is saving souls for Christ.
The pastor is retiring after 30 years of exceptional service. The Pulpit Committee, representing the membership of the church, is prayerfully searching for the next Senior Pastor.
HOW TO APPLY–Interested and qualified persons must submit a candidate package consisting of the following documentation by the due date:
- Cover letter
- Current resume
- Affirmation of awards and achievements
- Three (3) letters of references-The letter must highlight the candidate’s pastoral and personal
skills and characteristics.
- Copies of college/university transcripts
- Copy of Ordination Certificate
- Current color photograph (no larger than 5×7)
The preferred successful candidate will meet or exceed the following requirements and desires:
- Be a licensed, ordained, Baptist minister who has received the divine call and demonstrated commitment to the call
- Be led by the Holy Spirit; a person of prayer with strong faith and Godly character in both personal life and professional ministry
- Clearly understands and ensures the church adheres to the practice of Baptist doctrine, ordinances, and governance
- Have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree and accredited seminary training, Master’s Degree (or higher) from an accredited seminary is preferred
- Have a minimum of 6 years of pastoral experience in congregational preaching and teaching
- Responsible for managing all administrative functions and organizational leadership development
- Oversees the compilation of the church budget, assures that checks and balances are in place and
assures adherence to the same
- Be an effective communicator and demonstrate the ability to prepare and deliver biblically sound
sermons and lessons
- Lead by example and work cooperatively with the ministers, officers, administrative staff, and
congregants to achieve agreed upon goals and objectives
- Effectively and timely handle conflicts within the church and any disciplinary issues that may
arise
- Articulate a vision for the church that emphasizes spiritual growth and development with a focus
on the youth and young adult population
- Support and participate in local, associational, state, and National Baptist Convention of America,
Incorporated programs and activities
- Serve to provide spiritual leadership that motivates the congregation to live in service for Christ
- Final candidates must agree to a drug test, criminal background check, and credit and financial
history review
- Salary and benefits commensurate with education and experience
