Dr. Samuel Eugene Thornton, 90, went home to be with the Lord on April 22, 2015. He served as pastor of the Derrick Memorial Baptist Church for over 35 years until his health failed.
Dr. Thornton leaves to cherish his memory: Wife, Helen Thornton; Son, Pastor Matthew J. (Nell) Thornton; Daughters, Veronica (Ronald) Thornton-Littleberry, Monica (Patrick) Holiday-Goodman; 16 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
